Black Student Union was established in 2003 at the University of Vermont for students who are interested in learning about Black Culture. Black Student Union serves as a refuge for students of color to express their views and ideas, but also to help facilitate cultural and worthwhile works amongst people from all backgrounds, in an academic and community environment. We welcome all students, not just students of color, to become educated in our history and to find ways to better ourselves, our cultural environment, and our society as a whole. Our mission statement consists of seven main principles: leadership, community, awareness, dedication, equity, respect, and scholarship.
“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the one's we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek." - U.S. President Barack Obama
